Our group parked along the Viniard-Alexander Bridge Road to walk down to Thedford's Ford. Although it may look like we're lost... our experts in green coats, Dave (left) and Jim (right), are not actually trying to find us on their maps, but giving the group time to catch up.

The group assembles once again before walking down to the ford.

We are standing on the southeastern fringe of the Park. Thedford's ford provided access across the creek here. General Bragg had his HQ in the woods just to the right of the photo. Chickamauga Creek is just behind our group. Jim and Dave catch us up on Bragg's situation on the evening of 18 Sept. 1863 as Bragg contemplates both his and the Union's next moves.

This large field, on the Chickamauga Battlefield side of Chickamauga Creek was part of the Thedford farm at the time of the battle. This view looks south with the creek and Thedford's Ford just behind the tree line.
