We deeply regret any embarrassment felt by those unfortunate souls pictured in them.

The Chattanooga Civil War Round Table held its September meeting "in the field" at Chickamauga Battlefield Tuesday evening, September 19, 2006. This "normal" meeting night featured a talk by Round Table President Jim Ogden, who is also the Chief Historian for the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park. Those present included members of the Nathan Bedford Forrest Camp #3, Sons of Confederate Veterans and many special guests and friends. Altogether, approximately 107 persons attended this anniversary event.

Shown below are a few photos of the group. Since Jim's talk focused on Confederate General Pat Cleburne's night attack near Winfrey Field, both dusk and the night darkness were two important features of the battle that the present day visitors were also able to experience.

The group gathers at the Visitor Center.

A 12-pounder howitzer takes aim on a portion of the crowd.

After our car convoy to Brotherton Road, the group walks to a spot to hear Jim explain the action.

Our "historians" take note of the repair work to the Baldwin monument as the moonless
night is illuminated by the many flashlights, stars and occasional flashes from
photographers. Here, at the northwest corner of Winfrey field, Jim explains the perils
that took place as Union forces withdrew before Cleburne's advance.
